get in front of the radiator and see if there's an extra fan in front of it. some vehicles enable the auxiliary electric fan to keep cooling the radiator after the engine has been turned off if the thermometer is still reading hot. Might want to check your coolant level if you haven't noticed it b4

You probably have a pine needle or some other piece of loose debris in your dash console and it is whistleing with the fan. Been there and done that with the same model of van and the mechanics took forever tring to find it. It only whistles after the A/C is turned off because that is when the air flow throw the air coils is so little that the debris gets in the fan and causes the noise again. Your best solution is to sell that dinosaur right now. It will only continue to annoy you and there are two A/C's in that wan one front and the other mid with two A/C coils and Two heater coils, so; if you start repairing things it will cost you a small fortune, about $7,000. Been there done that.

Is it continuous or stops after a few seconds? Probably either the HVAC distribution doors (controls which vents the air comes out) vacuum servos are returning to spring loaded positions, or you are just hearing the refrigerant equalizing the pressure in the evaporater after being used.
I'm not sure if you have vacuum servos in your van or not. A lot of them are electric nowadays.

it is the refrigerant equalizing pressure within the a/c system.within the system the refridgerant goes through 4 changes of state.two being low pressure, aprox 30 psi,and two being high pressure, between aprox 150-300psi depending mostly on ambient temp which is the temp in the engine compartment.when you shut the a/c system off the two pressures equalize causing the noise.all vehicles do it,just don't hear on some.it may come and go,and the hotter the weather, the more pressure difference,so normally the louder it will be.if you take it to a tech.you will know if he is honost or not, because if he says he can repair it,he is going to spend a LOT of your money only to cover himself by giving you more reasons to give him your money, and will never stop the complaint.

R-34 is a very high pressure gas and has to relieve its pressure or it would blow the hoses up when you turned off your engine. This is designed into your a/c system...
If it only makes this pressure release noise when the engine is off, then don't worry about it..

probably freon pressure slowly equalizing in the evaporater coil.
you're supposed to shut your AC off like 30 secs - a minute before you shut your car off to help reduce condensation and mold growth. But most people just leave their AC on when they stop and then it's on when they start the car back up, like flipping a few levers or knobs is too much work.

Check you fan belts! quickly!
They take on more pressure to perform for the A/C.
Or possible leak in the system somewhere.
Look for coupons in the mail or newspaper for A/C servicing for your van. Or best yet take it to your dealership that manages that van brand. Hurry before you blow the engine!

nice van. i think i know what you mean...it's the fan whistling, right? like the whistling increases w/ the speed of the fan? i could be bad bearings in the fan motor. i'd have that replaced, which shouldn't cost too much.
