probably nothing but to me the word ask sounds less forceful than the word request. request is what i do to my kids when getting them to pick up their dirty clothes. they have no option. ask would give them the ability to say no.

great question! sounds like they're a similar at first, yet obedience is an exterior act of compliance. Submission in direction of any authority is a deferential physique of techniques that comes earlier, in the time of, and inspite of each and every thing strikes. the place a itemizing of regulations and instructions could desire to precede obedience, submission precedes regulations and supersedes regulation.

When you ask something, it implies that the person you are asking has a choice in responding.
When you request something, it implies that the person you are requesting something from is obligated to give it to you. They aren't, but it implies this.

Request suggests you want something, or to be told something. Whereas you might ask if somebody is ill, you wouldnt request if they were feeling ill, because you don't want anything from them. I think?

well, you never use the word "ask" as a noun. And when you use ask or request as verbs, request is more formal.
