Of course it is all personal preference, but here is the common thing to do in this situation...
After a positive pregnancy test......maybe just your immediate family if anyone (some people don't like to share at this stage simply because pregnancy tests aren't 100% accurate)
After the first doctor's visit.........this is a better time if you just NEED to tell people (however it isn't common to tell everyone at this stage, maybe just close friends and family)
After the first trimester.............Tell everyone if you haven't already!!!!

I've done after the doctor's visit as well as after the first trimester.
Except for close family and maybe a boss - I'd wait until after the first trimester. By the time you've reached that point your pregnancy should be fairly secure.

I told the father after the test. The rest of the world had to wait until the end of my 1st trimester. At that point I knew it was a healthy pregnancy and felt confident enough to share the news. I think that keeping it between you and the father for a while is a great bonding experience. Let's face it, once everyone else in the world knows things get hectic!!

I just found out that I was pregnant on Xmas Eve. Such an amazing Xmas gift. My boyfriend and I are sooo excited. I'm really early, only five weeks along right now - but I've already told my family, boyfriend's family, and close friends.
How long did you wait to tell everyone? I'm so excited that it was hard to hold back from everyone which is why I told some people already.
I know people say you should wait to tell people after your first trimester is over just in case something happens but honestly, if something happens it's going to happen regardless and I feel like people aren't going to judge you for telling people soon if you do miscarry. What do you guys think?

After a positive pregnancy test, why wait, for me waiting after the first trimester means that you are not giving your pregnancy the confidence that everything will go just fine.

I told everyone this time as soon as I took a test. Went to the doctor yesterday, did a sono and everything looks good. So know I feel more at ease. It is hard to tell everyone at first cause you never know if something will go wrong. Most people suggest waiting till end of first trimester as your risk of miscarriage is almost nothing.

Alot of people will tell you to wait until your first trimester to let everyone know. Only because its such a scary part of your pregnancy. I told everyone as soon as I took my test I ran told my husband called my mom.. ect. I was very happy and excited! Especially when I found out that I was having twins!! I couldnt control myself. But to be honest it really depends on the person. If you feel like you want to scream it to the world then go ahead. Its a very special feeling that not everyone gets to have. So enjoy every second of it. You will have to really make that decision for yourself. But theres really nothing wrong with you telling everyone :-) I hope this helps you.. Good Luck!

After a positive pregnancy test I told my husband first, then a few close friends (who I knew wouldn't bother me if I had miscarried). I told everyone else after my first trimester.

I waited until the latter part of the second month, although I tried to wait until the third month because if complications arise, they will be during the first trimester and in case of a worst case scenerio, you might not want everyone hovering over you and asking inappropriate questions. However, I do know people who told immediately when they found out. And some who told the closest people to them in confidence and others later.
