How do people find them? Do the creators put them in the game? or are they just hidden unkown codes that people have to find?

They are put in the games by the maker who then releases them a little after the game is out.
The maker puts them out and some times there are accidental finds by player of the game.
To find the cheats enter gamename/cheats into the search and it'll show you several options. My favorites are gamebanshee.com and gamefaq.com. Both offer walk throughs, hints and tips in case you want a little help without the cheats.
As far as how they work, I can only guess at it.
I'm thinking that the code, let's use 'god mode', blocks the area needed for it to regester that you've taken any damage.
Like I said, it's only a guess at it's very best.

well for your first question. the game developers release the codes to certain web sites like "www.gamespot.com" or magazines like "Tips & Tricks" and you can get cheat codes from pretty much anyplace.
second, yes the creators put them in the game, otherwize they wouldn't be there.

from what i can tell sometimes the game creators put cheat codes in the game to give the players something to make the game more interesting like having "infinite ammo" or "unlimited life" they change your whole gameplay experience.
but other times the creators put the codes in the game to make things alot easyer on the game testers.
lets say, if you beat the game on the hardest dificulty you unlock an alternate costume. well it makes it alot easyer for the tester to beat the game if he has a level select code, right?
so cheat codes are put into games for a number of diferent reasons.

The creators of the game program them in. Well some of them anyways...others are just glitches(mistakes) in the game that people find and take advantage of...it usually pisses people off when you use a glitch.

the cheatcodes depend upon the game you are using .they can be seen or the cheatbook can be downloaded from www.cheatbook.de . the people while playing their game type something or create their own cheats.the creators submit them on the internet to help mthe others.

Sometimes you can discover them and post them on the internet, but usually the makers of the game put them out on the internet AFTER the games is out (duh) and they can help alot if you are having some trouble passing a level or the whole games its self. Buena Suerte :)

well the ceator somtimes hides them in da game or they could just be glitches and away u can find em go to yahoo or google and say "cheats for ____ on _____" or u can got to cheat world or conslecheats of cheatplanet .com
