Just take him\her to the store with you and let them pick out what they want. They should be old enough to do that.

Old navy has a really cute bat costume. Oh, they have a chicken too. For a girl they have a princess outfit, a cowgirl. To this date though I like the pumpkin. A california raisin would be a good one, also.

These are all costumes I have seen little kids wear. Try local stores, like Wal-Mart and Big Lots to find costumes, or get a few pieces (like ears) at dollar stores and fix up the rest at home, or even make it all yourself using felt and shoestrings. If you are looking to make a prize-winning costume, try something involving a wagon that makes it look like a boat or car or something else. Have fun!

Mickey or Minnie Mouse. Get a hoodie and sweat pants and dye them black. All you have to do is put on white sneakers and white gloves,pin some felt ears to the hood and use some face paint to make a little nose and whiskers. For Minnie ,just make a little circle shirt out of white felt and glue red felt circles or pompoms all over it. To make the ears cut 4 big black circles from felt and using fabric glue glue 2 together for each ear to give them some body and then glue a smaller pink circle on each black ear. Use safety pins to attach them to the hood.
