The auto lobby has more power than the tobacco lobby.

We can't do without cars. You can warn people all you want and they will still have to drive. With cigarettes, hopefully the warning will make some people actually stop smoking.

And by the way, cars do have lots of warnings. Have you ever read an owner's manual? Just because the warning is not on the dashboard doesn't mean it's not there.

Finally, maybe the chemicals in auto exhaust are more harmful than the stuff in cigarette smoke, but I have never been at a restaurant where they let people run their cars inside. And I don't know of any parents who run the car with their kids in the garage. So the exposure situations are different.

This is the typical smokers argument, against the imminent bad in all public places in England on smoking.

I take it you've actually researched the difference between the two types of pollutants and how they contribute towards people (ill) health?

Secondly, cars are, are they not, an essential item. Without cars (and buses and coaches for that matter) people simply would not be able to live their lives.

Smoking is not essential, it is a pathetic habit, perpetuated by weak-minded people who would rather carry on killing themselves, their friends and their familys than attempt to put any effort in to stop.

Not sure... but then the hypocrisy of government has so many layers. Most of which have their roots in revenues.

I think its to stop people suing when they get lung cancer, pretending that they never knew they were bad.

Silly really. I loved smoking and gave up but even when I was smoking my most I never once paid any attention to the stupid warning. I think it ruins some great pack designs, especially camel and Marlboro... damn shame.

Because the nazis that hate smoking all drive big cars.
They know it's bad, but as THEY do it, they don't admit that it is.

I read an article this week saying that the most polluted places in Europe (more than smoke filled bars and busy motorways) are actually Catholic Churches !
The insense they burn is 10 times more dangerous than car exhaust fumes and first hand cigarette smoke.

If there was warnings on cars there would have to be warnings on everything!

The "Health and Safety Brigade" would have a field day...but not in a field coz they may get struck by lightening, or stung by a wasp!

cars are useful and most people drive them responsibly.
Tobacco is a dangerous life-destrying drug consumed by weak-willed addicts who pollute the air around them and smell bad.
Give it up and save the money to buy a hybrid car!

Now you have done it.

Watch this space.

Some ar*e-hole do-gooder will notice this question then start a campaign to have our cars covered in sign-writing.

apart from anything else lots of drivers fail to drive with due care and attention and kill or injur others as a result of negligence (most crashes aren't accidental)
