I just purchased a trailer home and paid cash for it. I have a bill of sale and receipt from the previous owners but was told I should get a "title" for it like you do a vehicle. When mentioning this to the previous owners, who bought this house new 10 years ago, they act like they have no idea what I am talking about. How should i proceed with this? I paid the spring taxes on it and have fall coming up soon, person at the court house said i need a "Title"
Any ideas are welcome.

Mobile homes will have one of two types of title - either as real property (like regular homes) or as chattel property (like a motor home).

Call the DMV in Indiania and find out. If mobile homes are chattel property, you would get/replace the MH title the same as you would with a motor vehicle.

If the MH is real property, you might have some problems because there would be a real estate deed associated with ownership. Let's hope it is chattel property as it will be easier to get title.

Ask person at court house where you can obtain title.
I think they sell same at stationary stores and all you have to do is have seller fill it out and have it notarized and then take it to the court house to file it.
