Bluetooth is the name of a wireless protocol that can be used for short range wireless connectivity between two electronic items. For example on your phone, you can use the Bluetooth connectivity to use one of those small earpieces you see people wearing these days, and you can also use Bluetooth to synchronize your directory with your home or laptop computer.
One really nice use of Bluetooth is for handsfree operation in your car. You can buy a handsfree device to put in your car, and some cars are now coming from the factory with Bluetooth capability built in.

It means it has the ability to sychronize wireless to another device.
Do not become one of those drivers courting the highway dangerously because you are driving with one hand and holding your phone with the other. Get yourself a Bluetooth-enabled phone and Bluetooth headset. Of course, they are also very useful at the office or around the house. (If you already have a cell phone you like, check out a Bluetooth adapter and Bluetooth headset.) Once you have the proper equipment, linking together your phone and headset for hands-free operation is easy. They allow you to stay connected to the friends, family, and anyone else who happens to call or you call by being able to free up both your hands, answering (or ignoring) calls automatically, and having a “voice dial” capability. With this handy feature, you can simply say the persons name already in your phone’s address book, followed by the location (categorized in three types: home, work, and cell) to call them. Alternatively, you may also choose to dial that same person or anyone else for that matter outside your phone’s address book, by using the “voice dial” and simply saying aloud the phone number of the person you wish to call. It is very convenient, and especially helpful – this is particularly true in places that enforce hands-free driving.

Bluetooth is a wireless infrared signal that is used to pair devices for communication. The most common use is pairing cell phones to wireless headsets, but you can also pair the phone with your pda, laptop, keyboard, or any other device that has been blue tooth enabled.
