What I mean is if I am talking with someone on the pc to pc messenger can someone (third party) easily obtain records or find out my pc IP address?

Yahoo "hackers" dont exist, its all a myth to scare you. If I was going to "HACK" someone I think I would choose someone unbelievably rich instead of the average user. IP address? sheesh, all they can get is my "gateway" address, meaning, registered to bellsouth. If the law wants to call bellsouth, so be it. but they aint gunna tell ME anything.

No more safe and no less safe that Instant Messenging, e-mail, chatting, Yahoo Answers, or anything else you do on the Internet.

normaly yahoo have a good firewall and security system but as a client try to avoid unknow calls....

I wouldnt say easily, but its doable.

Just assume that your wife probably couldnt do it, but the cops could.
