Andrew, your assumption about my sex life has absolutely no merit.

It shouldn't be that important. What benefit can be had by knowing? It is important to know how careful you have been so that you don't have diseases.
If you claim too many you are doomed. If you claim too few, no one believes you. It is best to say " I have been with people I have loved, people I have liked, and people I barely knew. I prefer you."
We are all curious about our lover's past and sometimes it is okay to share if your relationship is based on honesty and has a future. Often it is simply no one's business but your own as long as your past sexual experiences don't threaten your current or future experiences (disease, promiscuity, etc).

Some people have a serious hangup being with someone who has been around the block a few times. Some people love the idea of being with someone who is very experienced. Having a partner who is experienced can make a world of difference. A partner who has not been around the block so to speak may need a little 'training', which may make the less experienced partner feel very inadequate.

Well its probably to get an idea as to how experienced you are as well as find out how many people you've been with that could have potentially given you STDs or to see if you sex means anything on a deeper level or just for fun

People want to be healthy. The more people your partner has been with the higher the chance he'll contract an infection or disease and so will his/her current partner.Im not sure exactly what you mean but I assume that "been with" means sexual contact. Some people just want to know for the heck of it;to know more about a person.

The "same reason" it should be important for you to know too! You are playing Russian Roulette. Play it smart if your very active. Don't gamble with the chance of contacting some sexually transmitted disease. If you don't say "no", then always "know" the history of someone you are sleeping with or just going to have a one night stand with. You can't be careful enough!

I think guys and girls are equally sensitive to this subject. I was embarrassed to let my future wife know that I'd slept with 8 women, that is, right up until she told me that she had slept with 17 men! LOL, now we just laugh about it, but I guess it comes down to wanting to feel that you are special, that you are the chosen one. Not 1 of 17. :)

I think that it is a good qustion to ask. You know the old saying it's a small world. And I'm sure that nobody wants to sleep or be intimate with someone that had screwed your best friend. Or even worse! I know I would ask.

It is a way to self gratify themeselves, that if you were with very few people then that makes them all the more special. Or it is a way for them to be wary of you if you've slept with many people, because somehow it makes you a cheater.

In my prespective, to know if you've been around. He's probabaly cautious of and STD's or other general effects of sexual contact. How would you feel if HE has slept with 20 women?
