Typically 4 years. Depending on whether you can test out of some courses or whether you have HS courses that can apply towards the credit hours you need.

Technically, it is intended to be four years, but of the millions of USA students who have started college in the last month, only about 1/2 of them will have completed their BS or BA within six years. :(
To get a BA you need to take about 40 courses. (a BS degree might be more) So if you are a full time student you take 4 or 5 courses a term (usually that means 4 or 5 in the Fall and 4 or 5 in the spring) If everything goes along with no problems and you pass your courses, you graduate at the end of the 4th year.
What messes people up is, sometimes you might fail a course. Or, you might need to take a course and when you try to register the course is already full, no more spaces, you have to wait until the next term. Or, the course could be cancelled. Or, you might decide to change the major subject you are studying (this happens a LOT!) and then you would have to take a couple extra courses. Or, you might need to drop out of school for a term to make some money.... or work part-time and study part-time.
All those things can and do delay many people.
On the other hand, if you go into college with a lot of AP credit, and you take summer school. and dont change your major, and dont fail anything and have good luch with registration, then you could definitely graduate in 3 years. Think how much money you would save if you did that!!!

It depends how long it takes a student to accumulate the credits required to graduate in their chosen area of
study.
Four years is typical for a full time student (15 credit hours a semester).

If you take five courses per semester which is ten courses per year, you will earn 15 credits per semester which is 30 credits per year. Then in four years you will have the 120 credits needed to graduate.

A BA Is a four degree. If you can handle more courses than what is required for full time, you can reduce the amount of time it takes to get your degree.
