I am under the impression that most Marxist and Radical Left Academics are in the Humanities and Social Sciences. But I was wondering if there are any in the Physical and Life Sciences or Engineering???

There is an annual survey conducted by the Chronicles of Higher Education that covers salaries, work conditions and a lot of different areas of concern for all the faculty in the USA.

This newspaper is usually available at any of the larger metropolitan libraries and at virtually all college libraries.

The most recent version of the survey was recently printed, and it includes a table of political affiliations of faculty by rank and region. They don't have a column for Marxists but they do have a column for very liberal, liberal.... conservative, very conservative.
There are more liberals than conservative, but not many more, and the very liberal column is not a very high %. All this talk about radical faculty is basically just not correct. In nearly forty years in colleges I have only ever met one Marxist, and he was a joke. And I have met plenty of conservatives. Although, most ofthe people in physical sciences tend to be uninterested in politics in my experience. They do tend to support big military budgets, though, because those result in lots of money for research. The guys in the physics department loved "Star Wars" - none ofthem thought it had any chance whatsover of working, but they all got big grants to buy new equipment and build additions to their labs! It was a great deal for them.
