Since 2001 America has increased its contribution to global warming and environmental degradation, shaken the world's economy, started wars, illegally invaded countries, violated international treaties to which it was signed, caused tens of thousands of violent deaths in various parts of the world. Yet still Americans are not united in their oppostion to the Administration which is threatening the safety of the entire planet, their own population included. What should the world do to reign in this destructive super-power?

Most early respondents to this question seem to be anticipating a military option for reigning in the US, though one did suggest economics. I am thinking about economic and cultural isolation. It would be difficult to do, as the US is important to so many economies around the world. Still, it would be preferable to the WWIII scenario Bush wants to complete before 2009. Are invasions of Iran, Syria and North Korea all in our near future?

Dan B.: Your grasp of history is about as impressive as your typing. America did not win either World War I or World War II, the only wars in which the threat of us all ending up speaking German could have existed. America only entered WWI in the last year of the war and were two years late getting into WWII, while the rest of our allies were already fighting. The Russians beat the Nazis, which is why Berlin was behind the iron curtain all those years, because they were the ones the got there. Germany also bled itself white at the siege of Stalingrad. On D-Day it was Canadian forces who penetrated furthest into occupied territory, while the Americans landed at the Western most beachheads, furthest from the German forces main strength. Not everything happened the way Hollywood tells you it did, okay?

Follow Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Non-violent non-cooperation.
In other words, if the world just stopped and stood still, The US could not walk very far in any direction on its on.
And remember, we only defeat ourselves when we demonize others.
Our problem is with many of our nations and many of our leaders. Once the common people begin to see that global peace with justice is the answer, we will know that we are on the right track together as the people of planet Earth.

We have been contribution to Global warming since we became a planet so you're a little way off base there. Our emission standards are amongst the lowest in the world. How the hell did we shake the worlds economy (this is a new conspiracy and I would love to hear this one) , We did not illegally invade anyone, so getting your facts straight will help your angst immensely, we did not cause any violent deaths in the world and your want to blame America first just tells me that if you are an American, you are proof of the education crisis, and if you aren't an American you are just a liar.

Actually you don't have to do anything except what you are already doing...there are millions of liberals and democrats and quite a few Republicans that believe the US is moving in the wrong direction as well and your support via web post etc...encourage them to believe they are on the right track for change in this years mid term election in the 2008 race as well.

I personally would prefer a total isolation of the US no one gets in period. And no money gets out, the billions that are shipped over seas for aid monies, the jobs, the technology, medical advancements, and even entertainment in forms or movies and books. It seems that the rest of the world just wont' be happy unless the US thinks and does what they want...isn't it odd then they get upset that they think we want the same thing?

America is not the only country contributing to this chaos, that is for sure. Look at Saddam what he did to his countrymen, and in the past, Hitler, the Chinese and Russians when they became Communists.

You state alot of condemning things without real proof and substantial testimony. In a court of law, you would not be taken seriously.

There is one thing certain, we have not had another attack like what happened on 9/11, aren't you even a least bit grateful for that?

Also, you might want to read Matthew 24 what Jesus said the world will be like in the end of times, its interesting and doubt seriously if America caused all of that. Jesus said that in the end that even man's time on earth would have to be shortened because no one would survive.

just a thought, think about it.

I think the Euro countries can start standing up to the US, even militarily, and quit letting the US steal resources, murder heads of state, and push cocaine and launder money! I hear the CIA is going to have a bumper crop for the rich from Afghanistan!

Enforce the laws, and enforce the treaties! We break all off them!! Ask the Indians and the Iraqi's!!

huh? Our form of government ensures a change in leadership starting in Jan 2009. We alone do not cause the worlds problems and we alone cannot fix them.

If your intention is to hurt the US, you could stop purchasing our currency. Due to the account deficit and the debt, you could trigger a world wide great depression by selling dollars.

If America is so bad, then why does everyone want to come here legally or illegally, and no one wants to leave?
