Has anybody got messages like this before? And what can you do to prevent it? My spamfilter does not intercept *.gif.

If you are sure it was from Yahoo, it can't be SPAM. Also, .gif is simply one of several graphic formats.

Yes. There is an idiot out there that is using "yahoo" as his avatar. Yes it is spam, or worse. Do not visit any web site he may reference.

Yahoo wouldn't send you that - so I suspect it was from someone _pretending_ to be Yahoo - and they seem to have you fooled! It probably was just spam, or it could be something more sinister.
