because they are playing with an empty hand. the fear card is the only one they have. they hope that by inventing new threats they can convince the american public that they are our protectors.

As a Canadian, I tend to see what this Bush administration is doing to you people as a crime and a sin.
It's his own agenda (Republicans that is) and I'm sure the American people are waking up and starting to smell the coffee too...because I remember stating all this years back and everyone got so defensive I lost the friends I had made in the US over it. It didn't matter because I couldn't befriend people who refused to see the danger they were getting this whole world into.
Perhaps now it's more evident to all.
They waged war, not for the same reasons they are fighting it now. What they wanted initially (I really don't know...oil? Saddam? Iran perhaps...unfinished business now?) I read where the US threatened Pakistan's prime minister before invading Afghanistan that if he didn't side with the US that they would "blast them all back to the stone age". So Pakistan agreed to a certain extent.
Imagine if someone came across the sea to North America and said you're going to do what we tell you or we'll bomb you all state by state??
Those people are USED to living the way they do, being oppressed even. Just like Christianity was shoved down our throats in the west, Islam was shoved down their throats in the east there. Now "the infidels" (Americans) are trying to shove western views/idealogies/religion...however they see it...onto them. So this war will never be one because with every "terrorist" you kill....another will take his place.
So what Bush is doing is creating more and more animosity...both in the east and the west. This is no solution to anything.
The only way there will ever be peace is if all the people in the world say TRUCE....nobody wins here. Let's all back off and let by-gones be by-gones and live and let live.
Concede, compromise and swallow your pride everyone everwhere. Go home and leave people be. Government has to become responsible.
The new President of the US should be focused on how to take care of it's people, how to reduce the need for gasoline and find alternative power, and take care of itself. Every country has its own government. The world existed long before governments and it can re-invent itself again if people just cared enough to take care of their own.

The fact that you downplay fear makes me afraid. If after 911 you still suffer from Cranial Rectal Inversion I don't know what it's gonna take to motivate you.

WE ARE AT WAR! This is the same Liberal-Socialist head in the sand denial that allowed FDRs Administration to be riddled with Communist Spies. McCarthy is still being demonized by the left.

Cuz it's all they got. OR-thier campaign slogan can go somethin like this....Pro-Lifers 4 War!! Wealth Consolidation!! Goodbye Civil Liberties!! Goodbye Middle Class!!Enviromental Destruction!! I think that it would be easier for the Dems to play the fear card. At least that would be honest, no need to make up lies. The R's are pretty scary.

They are trying to show you when Dem's are in office. Nothing was done or will be done to handle to problem. Look at Clinton. How many times were we hit. How many died, and we were not at war. Yes we have lost a great deal of our own people to date. God bless them all, and the families. But Rep will not put up with that CRAP..

Bush has done little to combat terror. Al-Qaeda and The Taliban are still active and carrying out terrorist acts. The U.S. borders are still wide open. Osama is still at large. LIttle has been done. The Republicans basically suck.

Embedding fear is one of the few ways to exercise power and this is NOT based on opinion. I learned this in one of my classes in College.
Also this is the best way to exercise power accoring to research. I knows its crazy but its true.
Look around you and you will see it.
