A cable that goes from your headphones out socket on the tape deck to the mike in socket on the pc, and Audacity which is free.
Record the tape in audacity, split into seperate tracks, then save as WAV. Keep those as your backup copy.Then export the WAVS as MP3's.

Well if you have a microphone use it to record the sound from the tape player, then you have it on the computer. your sound quality is not going to be as great as a cd. But your more likely to use the microphone again for other reasons.

MusicMatchsoftware, a connecting cable from Radio Shack (connect cassette player @ speaker port) & your computer.
I'm putting my 8 tracktapes on cd that way, while the player still works.

use limewire.com to download music then burn onto a cd
