Yes. I got to know my husband like that and we've been married for 4 years, so obviously it works out for some people. :)

Long distance relationships are difficult though, for obvious reasons. I think people must realize that in order for such relationships to work at least one party must be ready to move to where the other one lives (even if that means moving far away). If neither one is ready to make that sacrifice it won't work out in the long run.

I think it's a good thing for internet couples to meet in person before the relationship goes on for very long, because people tend to be a little different in real life and even if you may enjoy talking to them online, you might find out things you dislike about them and even that they're not your type at all once you meet them in person. Don't start planning your life together or anything like that until you've actually met. :)

Sure, I have a couple friends who met over ICQ (one from USA and one from England) and they chatted for about a year and feel in love waaaay before meeting in person. They are now happily living together in London and they've been together about seven years now.

But, on the other hand, I know a guy who's met several women and gotten to kow them for months before meeting them and he said they all wound up being psycho.... maybe he just doesn't know how to read between the lines and see that before meeting a person IRL.

Yes, I believe it can work. I met my gentleman friend 4 years ago on line & we've been very happy together. He even relocated from the Gulf Coast to the northern part of the state where I live. It's worked out really well.

sometimes but not all the time for a start you dont know who is at the other end and are you able to trust that person because it would be very easy to lie to someone over the net and you dont know who they are they could be a mass murderer for all you know and you dont really see them that much to build up a relationship.

It could, but it is not the same as a one to one relationship. Both have a purpose. It only shows that you may agree on certain things. Your real personality only shows in person.
