It's not as cut and dried as that - like any region of the world there are bound to be variatons in accents depending on where you live, if any of you have ever been to the counties in Southern Ireland that border Northern Ireland (Donegal, Monaghan, Cavan, etc) you would be hard pressed to tell some of these accents apart from those over the border. So it's just a case of geography and nothing else! BTW, did NOT appreciate the comments made by Powerpuff, I am Irish and I certainly don't speak like a leprechaun - there must be something nice about our accent if the likes of Colin Farrell, Jonathan Rhys Myers, Gabriel Byrne, Pearse Brosnan, Cillian Murphy - oh the list goes on! are so popular.....

Excuse me to the person that said southern irish accents are horrible!!Anyway I'm in Cork and I like my accent and I like any one from Northern Ireland, sur I'm practically a neighbour of them!I dont know how the accents were brought up in the first place but its just the way the cookie crumbles! And another thing Americans tend to exaggerate the Irish accent north and south.

Accents in Northern eire - there is greater suitable than one - are somewhat equivalent to accents in Scotland, that's clearly interior sight. In to this point as you bump into Northern-eire-like constructive components in US accents, this may well be because of the effect of significant immigration into the U. S. from the North of eire in colonial days, while the numerous American accents have been being shaped. between the biggest impacts interior the formation of yankee speech are the North of eire and the West united states of america of england.

I think people from different regions of the same country are going to have a different accent. In the US, there are several different accents - Midwestern, Southern, North Eastern, New York, Boston...
I don't know why the Irish accent is hard to mimic. It is rather beautiful though.

Cause southern Irish accent is horrible, to be sure, and Northern Irish people chose not to sound like leprechauns (I'm a innocent man) What a stupid question. Manchester and Liverpool are a stones throw away and both have different (horrible) accents. Me I have a lovely sculpture voice from Wolverhampton. And it's only Americans who can't do accents, any and every one I know from Britain can do a convincing NI accent.
