You can differentiate the people by their socio-economic living environmental background, relations in the family & mental capabilities. These factors are affecting the behaviour & vision aspects of a human personility. It is mostly proved by studying the life history of successfull, unsuccessfull, celeberaties, leaders and other catagory personnels. However some people are sail against the winds & achieved their aims, stood above the boards and reflect new personality, but it is due to their own capability of mind which they either has naturally or made by their efforts.

Your question should say, "How can I differentiate people?". There is not "the" since you are refering to a general term and there is not "s" on people since the world is plural. Now, it depends what you really mean by differentiate. There are certain people who have strong ethnic characteristics and they are asy to spot, yet do not be fool by those characteristics since they may be from other ethnic group. I guess the best way to differentiate people is by talking to them and know who they really are, since that is the principal fact that you have to guide. If you are really interested in the topic, check some books on social physichology and people nature and their behavior.
