Life expectancy in Canada ~79
Life expectancy in USA ~77
I'm not sure if 2 years is "much more" but it may have something to do with the population density.
Motor vehicle accidents are probably the leading contributor to the lower average.
Low life expectancy of blacks is dragging US average down, does Canada even allow blacks to live there?

The US has not yet completed the takeover of Canada so things are still fairly normal. There is a concerted effort right now to tip the government toward the right and continue to usurp natural resources and make inroads into Canadian economy. There is an effort as well to instill a fear of "terrorists" but Canadians aren't buying it yet. The people right now are still thinkers (unlike the anxiety ridden, frightful Americans) so Canada is one of the best places to visit to get your mind back in balance.

It depends on where you live in Canada or in the US. I live in a small town and have several friends that never lock the doors to their houses and haven't for years with no ill effects. So I don't know where you get the idea that all of the US is crime ridden, its not.

Because the Canadian goverment does not embed fear into their people as much as the American goverment does.
Fear can cause people to act on irrate emotions and if the whole population is like that and is given a gun to hold (or when they feel the need to possess a gun) then the outcome is what it is!
I hope I made sense :)

Hate to break it to you but Clive had it right.
We have a huge underclass here that has their own value system.
Most of these come from 1 particular race that overwhelmingly represents the majority of crime here in the US -
If you dont believe me or think this is profiling, Look at the statistics:
And to you gullible folks that attribute it to gun control:
Canada with her wild lands had one of the most liberal gun control policies around until recently. When they clamped down on guns, crime went UP. As it did in most US cities with draconian gun control laws.

Because they don't have the wild west mentality, where everyone has to have a gun to protect themselves and property. And the law is crooked. In addition, they don't have a president that provokes other nations into a fight like a third grade bully.

I cannot support this assertion with evidence - merely a guess - but Canada may have stricter gun laws.
