I had a research job one summer where I had to seek and gather this weird little mushroom type fungus that grew on the top of cow poop in a very small and specified area. So I spent inordinate amounts of time trudging around looking *real closely* at cow flop, as they were only several millimeters in size.
The research was kind of interesting in that they were in a whole different classification than most mushrooms which are basilomycetes, this one was an ascomycete, yet through an entirely different branch of development, managed to develop a fruiting body remarkably similar to a mushroom as we know it.

I did a phone survey one time,
where I had to ask people, if they
Left their front porch light on at night?
You can just imagine the type of
answers I got from people. I hung
in there for about a two weeks.
By the way, the reason for the survey?
Our local electric company was trying
to get some input if they should install
more street lighting or back yard lights.
Weird job, weird survey & very strange

The one I have right now is pretty strange. I work with children who have behavior and/or emotional problems. I get paid to be beaten by angry children.
