I myself have encountered said problem.(which really isn't) A little before sunset, spray the area where they hang with chlorine. Repeat said process two or three days. They will be happy to look elsewhere for a permanent residence.

Well, maybe if your just relocate them, you would be happier all the way around! Bats eat tremendous amounts of mosquitos & other flying pests. I would love to have herd of bats!
Go to a home store & look for a bat house, & hang it where they say, on a sunny wall or tree away from your house.
The guano that is so stinky, is actually good fertilizer!

You could try putting bat boxes around your yard so that they have somewhere else to go. They kind of look like a wooden bird house.
I wouldn't try to discourage them from leaving your property all together because they eat thousands of mosquitoes and other insects. They are good to have around - just not so up close and personal.

You may not want to. I have been told that bats are protected. I don't knnow who you would check with. I know protected or not I kill them if we get one in the house. I don't know why they would want to protect something that carries rabies.
