I think the writers were brilliant for making Christina (of Korean descent) Jewish. It hearkens back to Juan Epstein in Welcome Back Kotter -- he was a Puerto Rican Jew.

I think the writers also brilliantly used that little tidbit they slipped in under the radar a while back in last night's episode. Beyond the "let's all relate based on funeral experiences," the idea of sitting shiva for Denny seemed to comfort Izzie.

I can't imagine how she must have felt, knowing she'd never see the man in her life again. Can you imagine getting engaged then losing the man you love on the same day?? I think Christina was able to be a comfort to her in that moment, which I think is a rare experience for the Korean Jew =)

Its a fictitious character that I guess they made Jewish. But Christina Yang doesn't exist. Sandra Oh is not Jewish, unless she converted cause both her parents are Korean.
