Our sun still has millions and millions of years before it will swell into what is known as a White Dwarf. These are the brightest stars in the sky. As it is swelling its mass will overtake the orbit of the inner planets, including Earth. So, when it reaches this stage our planet will be no more (unless we advance our technology to the point we can move the whole planet by that time).

After becoming a White Dwarf it will grow to the point known as the Chandrasekhar Mass Limit. Once the sun reaches this limit it will go Supernova (Type 1a), and will take out much of our solar system.

Our sun will not reach the mass required to become a black hole.

Our Sun when nearing completion of its age will turn in to a Red Giant. All life forms on Earth will cease to exist. However this will happen in distant future, after about three billion years and afterwards it will change into a white dwarf.Stars of the size of our Sun do not become black holes. However By that time humanity ( if succeed in surviving) will have technology and means to migrate to another Planets. For a brief period of time even satellites of Jupiter like Europa will be habitable. But for a long term solution humans have to find some habitable planets/moons of another midsized stable star.

Did the sun live now half of its age? NO ONE KNOWS that answer... not even the most learned scientists but they predict that it will possibly burn out in another 2-3 billion years.. I will not Be around to see that of course.. what comes after the sun.. NO ONE KNOWS.. Likewise, the black hole theory is almost an unknown subject except that it DOES exist but what is in it.. no one knows

Yes, the Sun is about half way through its expected lifetime. When the Sun dies, Earth will die. All life on Earth totally depends on the heat and light of the Sun.

Please don't worry ,
sun has millions andmillions of years to sweel and change into a small one which known as white dwarf , a white dwarf is the brightest star in the sky till now only one star has been said as a white dwarf through this one astronmer has found out hat the sun and the planets all with life has existed before millions and billions of years ago , but this is not still approved by nasa and many more organisations unfortunately the astronmer died long ago till now this news has not been released but many people believe that the sun and the planets with life on them existed . but then an astronmer in 9th century AD said that the big bang is still existing in outer space and is going to form a new solar system and ours which is still existing is going to burst all of us are going to die ! but this matter did not get released because it would spread panic among people . thats all i know thak you ! bye

the sun will be around for about another 4 billion years, then it will swell into a red giant star, engulfing if not burning the entire earth to an piece of charcoal!!! then it is thought it will just exhaust its last bit of remaining gases, not explode. this will cause it to become a white dwarf star. people will not be able to survive this, and will need to find another home.

* the earth will die long before the sun goes out!!!

then, it will become enlarge to 100 times its original size engulfing most of the planets including earth and then will start puffing off the exhausted hydrogen gas
