In order to try and pinpoint the system involved try the following. spray some starting fluid of pour a small amount of fuel in the air intake. Try to start. If it starts every time then look to the fuels system. Change the filters first, as mentioned by one of the other folks. If this doesn't cure the problem then the fuel pump will be suspect. If the starting does not improve with the test mentioned, then you will have to consider the ignition. Ford has a single unit into which all of the spartk plug wires are attached. This is called the ignition module. It is possible for this to go bad. The cost to replace, if done yourself, is minor. It is relatively easy to change. Only four bolts involved.

Fuel pump is most likely the problem ($500), but then it could also be the O2 sensor, the mass air flow sensor, the pressure sensor, fuel filter.

Are you having these symptoms? Under moderate accel the vehicle feels like it's missfiring and at times it will stall. You may also have noticed a strange squel noise during the event. If these symptoms describe your concern, you may need a Camshaft Position Sensor & Syncronizer.
