I think my answer would be, "I'm sorry to hear that. Could you tell me in what ways you feel that my performance has been less than satisfactory?"

I would be offended if the interviewer was so rude/inexperienced to state it just like that.

If I really wanted the job so badly that I would be willing to work for someoene who obviously do not know how to conduct an interview, I would ask;
1. What specifically were you unhappy with during the interview
2. Is there anything that I can do to change your perception of me
3. What exactly are you looking for and how can I satisfy you.

My gut reaction however is to calmly, and politely leave. If he/she does not know how to conduct a simple performance interview; then he/she would be hell to work with.

just because a person doesn't answer your question the way you want doesn't mean they cant do the job , give the person a chance if you dont like the way they perform then you replace them but dont judge by a question.are you one of those bosses that intimidate people ? if you treated your employee nice that has alot to do with how they perform try it .i would tell you to stick your job where the sun dont shine i dont kiss a** and thats what you want .

"my performance reflects the poor quality of your questions. Just what are you trying to accomplish with this interview? Are you trying to insure that no one smarter than you is ever employed here to make you look good?"

What is a polite way to say "Creative questions get my brain revved up and so far the questions have been par for the course..."?
