how much would you change?
to get up at 5am sit on a bus for an hour to life guard for 1 hour from 7am till 8 am then go back home to bed coz you dont start your real job till 2 pm
I've been asked to work that hour and what i wont to get paid i'm not sure as its not a great time what do you think?

The question is, how much is the other guy offering to do it for? ;-) If it's less than you want, you've got your answer right there! If there isn't another guy, ask what you want. Actually, ask for about three times what you want, and maybe your boss'll negotiate down to something reasonable.
How much is the bus fare? An hour's bus ride in Britain would probably set you back a couple of pounds, and doing that twice, for anything less than a tenner for the hour on poolside, doesn't seem worth it to me. If you're likely to make a loss on the deal (or no more than pennies), I'd stay in bed if I were you (and point that out to your boss).
So by that simple mathematic, ask for 30, and maybe you'll get 10.
