Good question. There are a lot of good rust removers on the market but I'd read the label carefully to ensure the product won't remove the finish from the enamel.

product called ZUD. it removes the rust stains and the little silver marks left by pots and pans that I always thought were scratches. I used it and my sink looks like brand new. We found it at a hardware store. Below is a web site

I've always had luck putting down paper towels, dampening with liquid bleach, and letting it sit. You might have luck with one of the new bleach pens, too. Either treat just the spots, or the whole sink, it'll bleach away dirt you didn't realize was there, and might look lighter if you only do a small area.
Have you tried Ajax or Comet? Those have bleach in them, and have worked well on stains for me. Maybe make a paste of one of them and apply just to the spots, let sit, then clean as usual.

I use a pumice stone, available from most hardware stores. Smaller 'personal use' pumice is sold in beauty supply sections of stores for removing callouses from feet but can also be used to remove the rust stains from porcelin.

i take advantage of delicate scrub with bleach approximately 3 or 4 situations a week and have Ajax bleach spray for in between. I have been given a captivating cream deep sink approximately 3 years in the past and it stains horribly. steel exceptionally marks it.

Try Barkeeper's Friend - it's a nonabrasive powder - has always worked for me. I have used it on stainless steel, porcelain, and enamel. Can usually get it at the grocery store.
