the nest is because he or she is pre paring to lay the eggs they do this naturally and about 2-3 years some a little longer try this it may help

Info says they can easily live 3 years and up to 5-10... Bubbles are a good question... The info also said that the water needs to be in the 70's (degree-wise) so that the fish will be able to digest right and not throw up food which could cause extra bubbling in the tank... Good luck!!!

I don't kow about the bubble nest, but betas live for a long long time, if you change the water weekly. i have one in a simple glass bowl and he/she has been alive for 6 months no. I don't use a filter or anything.

2 years! hehe... (i dont know what beta fish are) but the average fish life is 2 years if im not mistaken

Yes, the bubbles are good... it is for breeding purposes only... and the bubbles actually will pop in time. The water needs to be warmer for them to blow them. They are more likely to blow them in the warmer water than they are in cooler water.
