lack of nutrition when you're young. that's why as a kid, we were always told to drink our milk and get lots of sleep. our bones stop growing at some point in our lives, but if you don't take care of your body, that's when it will stop growing.

In my case it was genetics and possibly a drug my mother took when I was young. I am a dwarf. The official name for my disorder is "pseudo-achondroplasia". Check it out by looking up dwarfism and the different types. I am nearly 4'-10" my arms and legs are uncharacteristically short for my stature, my hands and feet are rather large but not larger than the average sized woman, (large for the length of my limbs). My head is a bit larger than usual but I do not have the frontal forehead bossing, so until you really get a good look at me, and study my features you do not realize that I have this affliction. When I am sitting down, it's difficult to realize that I am dwarfed at all because I do not have to sit on a booster chair or anything.
I also have horrible arthritis in my knees and some of my other joints, and in my spine. There are many varieties of dwarfism, no evidence of it in my family (that anyone can remember), but my mother took a drug called Thalidomide when she was pregnant with me (in the 1950s) so that she would not have morning sickness. So I am probably blessed to simply be dwarfed. Some of the children whose mothers took this drug were born severely deformed. It was used widely in that era before it was discovered to cause birth defects.
I am not upset by it, the pain of the arthritic osteophyte growth in my spine is severe at times, but I try to keep everything in perspective, and take each day with it's challenges and such in stride! Recently I was told that I have a terminal myleoprolific disease of my blood. It will eventually cause my death. Hey, we all have to go sometime!
I was shocked recently when I learned that once again Thalidomide is being used for certain purposes in the drug market as an antiemetic or anti-inflamatory. I still think that Thalidomide should be taken with great caution! I have to tell you that I have met others who were so deformed by it, that would make you wonder how they have managed to lead any life at all. I would warn anyone that I know that has even the slightest chance of being or becoming pregnant to NOT use it!
As for the other things that they "say" stunts your growth like smoking or drinking coffee, I think those things can have some effects on developing children, but mostly because we know if you impair lung function that a child may not get proper oxygen, I think they were simply being stingy with their coffee ;-) and did not want to share it with the youngsters. I do not know any real causes aside from genetics that actually stunt a person's growth. I hope my answer has helped you, and if it has helped to *PREVENT EVEN ONE WOMAN FROM HAVING A BABY AFFECTED BY THALIDOMIDE, then I am sure glad I took my time to answer this!
Good luck!

Some components of growth are genetic, if your parents are small you are more likely to be small. Environmental toxins can cause damge, carbon dioxide (smoking) won't help. Like they say, nutrition is the big thing. Hormones make a difference, part of your genteic background. North americans have been generally taller than their parents for the last 80 years or so, guessing nutrition.

No, espresso would not stun your boom. in case your aggravating about the caffine interior the espresso that ought to likely stun your boom, it doesnt. Caffine is only a smooth non everlasting power source, no longer everlasting, and the reason I say that's a smooth source is because it has no the position an analogous non everlasting power as, as an instance Gurana. for someone of 14 like me and also you, i imagine 1 espresso an afternoon must be positive, merely no longer continually on a daily basis over a month. merely defintaly stay faraway from guarna!! :P desire this facilitates!
