I have an interview today and if they are willing to give me the job today I will have have to put in my two weeks on monday the 25th. Here is the deal...i don't know if I can.
The manager and I are really good friends. It's a really small company, only 5 people work here. Me and her are the only ones that stay in the office, the other 2 guys are out in the field doing calls and the other person is part-time.
The manager is going on vacation to cancun on October 14th to October 21st. If I put my two weeks in monday my last day would be the 16th. That is the week she is gone on vacation. I feel so bad doing that.
What should i do?

If you're leaving, it's obviously a move up, not down. If manager is really a good friend, she should be happy for you. Handy Andy is right... you should discuss this with her and let her know the situation. See what the present company has to compensate for what the other company offers.
If you are really leaving the office, then you should not worry about what's going to happen, it will survive. Don't let your boss use a guilt trip to get you stay. You will end up hating her and yourself for passing up a better opportunity. The thing is to let her know ASAP so that she can make arrangements before she leaves on vacation.

I know you feel bad, but two weeks' notice is customary and perfectly fine. You could ask the new employer if you can start later, and a lot of employers would be willing to accomodate. But don't jeopardize getting a better job. If having you on staff was so important, then your current manager would be paying you a higher salary and better benefits. If you are that concerned about leaving, then you should inform your manager now that you are looking for another job, so there is enough time to hire a replacement and train him/her. Otherwise, situations like these are why there are temp agencies out there. He is he manager - it's his job to deal with staffing issues. Even if you stayed at your current job, if you got hit by a truck on Oct 16th, he would be in the same predicament anyway.

There must be something wrong with the job you have, or you wouldn't be looking for a new job in the first place.
If you're not serious about taking the new job, if offered, you've just wasted your time and the interviewer's time.
Make up your mind.
Tell your friend that you do like working for them, but you feel you need to move on to different venues and challenges, then turn in your two weeks' notice.

Take the job you were offered but tell them you can't start until Oct 22nd, out of respect and prior commitment to your boss. Who knows they just might admire your loyalty and respectfullness and want you even more! Don't be afraid just do it!

OK ive been thru this.. its the perfect time to ask for a raise..mmm sounds like a leverage move to me..You need to hint that someone else is interested in your services and think does either job include benifits...
