There's lots of reasons this could happen. Usually it is hormonally related and things like the birth control pill, or premarin can put it back on track. Sometimes it's a uterine fibroid. There's treatment for that too.
It's rarely a symptom of something serious, but if it were, NOT seeing the doctor would be the very worst thing you could do.
So call your doc and go in. You will likely feel a lot better afterwards.
And yeah..I've spotted at various times throughout my life including with 2 pregnancies. I"m fine, as are my babies.

Uterine fibroids are usually not dangerous, but can cause immense discomfort and lead to complications like anemia from heavy blood loss. In rare cases, they may cause complications that affect pregnancy.
In cases where there are no symptoms, treatment may not be necessary. However, proper diagnosis and treatment may be required if your symptoms are severe or causing complications. Along with conventional treatment, you can try some natural home remedies. Read here https://tr.im/wTZGQ

You didn't say your age. If you haven't been having periods that long it may be your body still settling into a routine. I'd go to the doctors just to be sure but I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I once had that and went to my GP, terrified of what she was going to say. She seemed really surprised I'd bothered to go! But definitely do get yourself checked out, as while it could well be nothing, it's better to be sure.

I had spotting and went to the doctors, it was diabetes. (I didn't have bloating though).
