By being true to myself and evaluating the facts before making up my mind regarding issues. By being a good decent citizen and no turning my head when I see injustice. Doing my part to empower the less fortunate. Making my own decisions regarding morals and not blindly accepting morals that are handed down to me. And one day I hope to raise a decent child (or children) and give the world a good citizen.

To quote Emma Goldman, "If voting ever changed anything, it would be illegal" and in case you need furthur evidence that voting doesn't work, reference Presidential elections from 2000 and 2004.

I'm not going to tell because it will ruin the surprise.

I am assuming that POSITIVE change is the change you wish to bring about.. First I think that you have to realize that change for the sake of change isn't always good. But since change is the goal you have... You have to be patient. Positive change doesn't come in leaps and bounds. It comes in small steps.

Take the initiative to educate yourself to *all* sides of an issue. To cause a (positive) change you have to understand all sides of an issue. Not only do you need to actively be the advocate for your point of view, you need to play the advocate for your opponents point of view. Only way to do this is to realistically look at both sides, the pros, the cons and the ramifications of success for either side. If you do this, you are way ahead of your opponent. Most people only take interest in their viewpoint. You can't be truly successful unless you fully understand your opponents viewpoint.

Take the initiative to become involved. No offense, but it takes more than spending time here at Yahoo. Spending time here at Yahoo can be an asset, it gives a person the perspective of other peoples opinions but it does little to effect a change. Opinions are great... they are like a$$hole$, everyone has one. You need to attend and play an active role in governmental meetings. You need to attend political party meetings. (Both sides initially). It is the only way to get a complete picture and will help you in what you are trying to achieve.

I think you get my drift here. I'm not going to preach to people who have no desire to be truly constructive. I spend (in most cases waste) my time here trying to spark sincerity in people to rightfully evaluate issues.

You can't be lazy about this. So far in the answers you have received I don't see much potential. It certainly seems like the majority of people on these boards are here to *play*. Heaven help us because these people are causing others to form opinons that only make matters worse.

I did exactly what you are asking. I worked for change. What I did may be but a blip in the grand scheme of things but my contributions were not in vain either. While it may not be much, I gave 8 years to working for positive change by being part of the world of politics. How many will give 8 days *committed* to change? I bet less than 1%.

I'm a Treehugger and already started to plan my future to preserve this great place in which I live while ol' Dub-yha flies to Mars.
