Wow...some interesting answers. It's amazing how people listen to media propaganda (I believe the media creates contention to create "news" and "events" to sell their "product"). Then, rather than having a mind and forming their own opinion from actually MEETING other people, they "stereotype" and react to that. People all over the world are basically alike and I believe "good" and want the best for themselves and their families. To your question...I don't believe the French hate us but again, because of the stereotyping of Americans, I have found many French that I have met and interacted with to be aloof and, at times, rude.

There is a perception that French people are arrogant and rude. It is definitely perpetuated by movies. Is it true? To some degree probably, but I doubt if it is necessarily a majority opinion constantly on the minds of all French people. I don't think most Americans care whether or not the French hate us. The rest of the world seems to think that because they are so preoccupied with the actions and opinions of Americans, that we must in turn be the same way towards them. It is just not the case. Americans have alot of national pride, and aren't afraid to show it, but generally most of us don't care that much about the rest of the world, or what they think of us as a nation. Get offended by this if you must, but take into account that you don't see many Americans talking about other countries, unless it relates to somewhere we are engaged militarily, but you see an over abundance of discussion in the rest of the world about the United States.

France fought alongside the Colonialist to achieve indepndance from the UK. France fought alongside the US in the First and Second World Wars to avoid German Colonial expansion and Nazi domination. France sold nuclear technology to Israel the USA's #1 ally in the Middle East. Now with massive North African immigration following the loss of their colonies is Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia they can no longer publically show political allegiance with the USA's anti-arab stance. The French are frightened of US cultural and economic dominance, they have a culture and history they are rightly proud of. They had negotiated very profitable oil extraction contracts in Iraq prior to the US led Gulf war, which they sought to protect in teh light of very quiestionable evidence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
The US media has twisted what is "real poltics" falsly into treachery and mindless name calling. No, the French do not hate the US but they are certainly annoyed at the resultant victimization their business and tourist industry is seeing as a result of this unjustified bigotry.

No way. That is media propaganda! I have sold items on eBay to French people and have found them to be polite and kind. I have a positive view of the French people also because of the excellent French films I have seen recently, such as L'Auberge Espanole and Amelie.

Amount of French people I run into in a typical day: zero.
Everyone hates me - I'm the po-lice. Doesn't hurt my feelings.

Given the media, both in the US and abroad, and the conversations I see on the internet everyday I'd say, yes.
MOST of Europe hates us due to the brainwashing and steriotypes fed to them by their media, not to mention the self-depricating tripe that comes from the US's own media. Europeans hate Americans on the same basis that KKK members hate blacks... pure, unadulturated, hate-filled ignorance.

I think the U.S people think we Iranians hate them but as far as I can see all Iranians including me love them.We just don't agree with their government's policies."Be with us or you're a terrorist!"This is stupid!Right?I just don't get the point why Americans hate us.Surly because of lies and propaganda they have heard and they are still hearing against us.If I were them I would collect all these media and Bush's lies, put all of them in a box and throw them away! There would be no conflicts anymore!
