Nazi is a nickname for National Socialists. They came into power in Germany with the "election" of Adolf Hitler in the early 1930's. You know, the guy that killed about 10 million people in concentration camps with gas? The jewel in Hitler's crown was the Gestapo. Anybody who was gay, catholic, jewish, mentally unsound, and even children, were brutally worked to death and killed. Nazis tried to eliminate the Jews and anybody else who wasn't Aryan or willing to follow the commands of Hitler, or who disagreed with the State. They were brought down by Allied soldiers in 1945, ending the European side of World War II. Any more questions, that's the nutshell version.

Originally, the Nazi's were the german socialists workers party begun in Germany in to late 20's early 30's and headed by Adolph Hitler at the time he took control and became Chancellor of Germany. The majority of members joined in the late 30's earley 40's mostly becasue not joining would have led to iprisonment or even death. There is a great deal of information about them connected with world war two as well as the Holocaust and concentration camps where not only Jews, but political dissidents, homosexuals, Gypsies, Poles, Catholics and anyone that the Party thought was too subversive were placed.

In more modern usage the term applies to those of Aryan background that have taken up the propogation of the more aggressive and racially motivated ideas of the Nazi's, more commonly called Neo-Nazi's. The current incarination of that movement has such a high turnover in membership that it really doesn't have the chance of going very far, or doing much more than making noise.

This is so sad that you have no idea about history. If you are a student this question needs to be shown to your local school board because your school system is not teaching you history/social studies.

The Nazi were responsbile for starting WWII. Hitler had the entire country of Germany believing they were the highest form of human life and all others should be exterminated. He is responsible for the murder of 6 million jewish people living in Europe at the time. He rounded them all up and put them in concetration camps and gassed and shot them after subjecting them to hard labor. They invaded most of Europe and was stopped by the Allies lead by the USA in stopping them.

Do yourself a favor and go read about World War II.

what people failed to mention that "Nazis" also were the ideal race; white supremacy was the way back in the 30s and 40s. Hitler was aiming for the perfect race of blonde haired and blue eyed population. it didn't matter that Hitler's mother was a Jew. you also need to be reading the history book or contact a Holocaust survivor for more information

The Nazis are the political party responsible for the Jewish holocaust and WW2. Coterie to poplar belief not all Germans were Nazis. They were much like the democrats and republicans. Hitler was their leader. He was elected by the party because of his strong speaking ability (to bad he was crazy due to syphilis)
