I had a c-section with my son. I was up walking the next day ( they make you get up and walk and will walk right beside you so dont worry)
the first week I was pretty uncomfortable but able to move around ok, the second week I was back to normal. by my 6 wk checkup where they removed the staples I honestly had no pain left. Still could not do crunches it does take a while to get back into any kind of strenuous activity. just be sure to take care of yourself and get as much rest as possible- when the baby sleeps so do you so take naps :)
Best of luck to you and your new sweetpea there's no better feeling in the world than that baby in your arms and trust me you wont feel the pain near as much when you're holding that much love so close=D

I was in hospital 5 days after mine, and told to relax for 6 weeks - how you're meant to do that with a new baby god only knows!!
Unless you HAVE to have a C-Section, i'd go for a normal birth.
I've had both. The pain of the normal birth stung like hell, but it was forgotten in minutes. The pain lasted for days after the c-section.
Good luck!

It's major surgery, so 6 wks of taking absolute care with yourself.
Best bet! Avoid c/s like the plague and run from doctors and hospitals that have a high c/s rate. Get plenty of excercise, eat healthy and stay at home when labor starts for as long as possible.

Not long. I was up and at 'em two days later. You have to be a little cautious about your movements to avoid ripping stitches and causing internal bleeding, but other than that, you're good after a day or two. However, it will take longer after a c-section to be able to regain your abdominal muscle tone...the muscles have to heal before you can start doing exercises to get that flat belly back.

The guideline is to not lift anything heavier than your child for 6-8 weeks, this includes baby in car seat or moses basket

18 years until the little brat is off to college...
You will be back up and working to take care of his/her every need in about a week. Then about 2 - 3 weeks until you are cleared for just about anything.

i had emergency c sec and was walking about at a angle! as soon as they removed the catheter 24 hours after surgery , and was ready to go home the next day but and had to plead with the doc s to let me out and they did .
i had a general but all the girls who had epidurals were bed bound still when i went home .
and check with your car insurance if they are ok with you driving after c sec .i was fine after a week and back to running a household good luck its not as bad as they say !(the worse part is taking the huge plaster off your scar ouch!)(i had one dose of morphine whilst i was under and coped with paracetamol after that .

6 weeks. Also don't forget that your insurance won't cover you to drive until those 6 weeks are up either. Have a natural birth. You'll be up and about next day.

8 weeks is the standard, barring any complications.
After two weeks, you can do *light* things like taking stairs more frequently, occasionally folding laundry, going to the grocery store, etc., but nothing strenuous like exercise, lifting heavy objects, etc. Honestly, two weeks post-op, you won't WANT to do these things more than likely, but some women seem to think they're Wonder Woman and feel better, so they do too much, and end up regretting it.
