I am a housewife, and I do do the majority of everything..including helping with the yard work...My husband does try to help out..But the way I see it, if he is the one working he shouldn't have to come home and help with the house and the cooking all the time...Very rarely do I ask him for any help!

Well you didnt say if there were kids were in school or still young and at home. It all depends. I do feel that a housewife should keep the house clean as well as cook. Now on any job she still needs to have a break away from her daily duties. The house shouldnt be hard to manage with daily cleaning. So when you can lend a hand. Just because she is a housewife doesnt mean she want to spend her entire day cleaning.

If being a housewife is her full time job I think she should, but still then it wouldn't hurt to help her out every once in awhile. If she works outside the home, then I think the cooking and housework should be equally split. I am a stay at home mom and housewife, so I do most of everything around the house, but still yet, my husband will throw in a extra hand when I need it.

I've been a housewife for a whole two weeks now. Got laid off work. I do the house cleaning, the cooking, the clean up, AND I have to do the yard work, mowing and trimming.
For me, the only difference has been now I don't work a full time job on top of all the other stuff.

As in housewife who doesnt work and stays home all day? if this was me then I would be using this time to clean my house yes and also prepare meals - but it would be nice for the other party to maybe join in with these things as well - housewifes also have children to look after most of the time so its not easy being at home - they still need help and support.

It don't matter if you have kids or not.If you financially support you're family 100% And the wife doesn't have a job.Yes it is her job to take care of the housework and have meals on the table everyday.I was a stay at home mom for 2 yrs. when my oldest were babies. And didn't mind doing everything around the house.I work 48+hrs. now raise 3 kids and still do housework and cook everyday. These women don't know how easy they got it.Most of them couldn't handle my workload.

If she is really a "housewife" (stays at home full time, kids OR no kids), then absolutely. Why would she not? If the husband was working outside the home full-time, she should take responsibility for these things. If she is a good wife, she will be proud to do them, and make a good home for them. If she is not a good wife, she will probably cite "equality in gender roles", blah blah blah...when in fact, she may just be lazy.

That depends on the situation. If both people work full time then the chores and household responsibilities should be shared by both people. If the woman stays home, then she would do the basic things and the man should help with the heavier things. I'm a firm believer in sharing responsibilities in a marriage. That way no one feels overwhelmed or used. My wife always is very appreciative of things I do around the house to help her out.

The majority yes, but not all of it, if she doesnt have small children to take care of then there shouldnt be a problem.
She is a housewife after all.
She chose to take care of the home and the things in it instead of working elsewhere.

That seems fair if she is a housewife and not working outside the house, and is not exhausted from pregnancy or having given birth in the past few months.
