Why is it that many Mexican female singers and actresses have thick husky voices. I just came across Paulina Rubio and listened to one of her songs and noticed that. It brought back memories of when my Father watched the Spanish Novelas and I remember many of the women having these kind of voices. What gives?

It has to do with their history and heritage. The life led by many of their forefathers in the harshness of the Mexican desert combined with the various types of food and drink that were consumed in the mid Eighteenth century.

I watch the telenovelas every night, and I have also noticed that many of the women have husky voices. I think it's neat. The Mexican women are very beautiful. I don't know why this is, though. There are plenty of actresses with high-pitched voices to set it off. The older woman who plays Jacinta Valladolid on "Barrera de Amor" (Raquel Olmedo) has a very deep voice, but it suits her.
