i LOVED flying AA. the cabin was cool and comfortable and there was plenty of leg room (which is a big issue for my 6'2 fiance).

i only flew with them once after a delayed flight and some rescheduling.. i usually fly southwest because they're just as nice and have better deals.

Of four flights on a flight I had with them last year, not one of them was on time. In fact, since my flight out of my orginating city was delayed, I missed the last flight out my connecting city (Houston) at 8:45pm.

I was not upset by this, however, until they would not pay for my hotel for the evening, citing the weather was, "An act of God," and not under their control. The most they could offer me was a discount (Ha - about $10 off my room) at the hotel and no food vouchers. By the time we arrived at the hotel, the restaurant downstairs was closed, so I couldn't even buy a meal.

On my flight out four days later, the flight was two hours late leaving (with clear skies, I might add), and when I arrived in Houston, the flight they scheduled me for since the orginal flight was so late, was also about an hour behind.

If you're on a time table and or a budget when travelling, avoid Amercian. Delta is more expensive, but sometimes they have pretty good sales and I have never had a problem with flights being routinely delayed.

Service wasn't that great. Plus there was a couple with their 2 kids flying back to China on the flight. Their little boy screamed bloody murder the entire flight. And, the attendants did a crappy job of calming the boy down..or making the parents calm him down. This kid was literally 8 or 9 years old. There was no need for that. He needed some sleeping meds or something to knock him out. I was ready to stuff a sock in his mouth myself. The worst flight ever.

I have found that the quality of my commercial flying experience depends more up the aiprot than the ailine. Some airports are confusing three ring circuses, and some are very peaceful and civilized.

In NYC, avoid JFK like you would aids, and use LGA, or better yet, WPC. Hartford Connectcut is fine too. Atalnta sucks, and so does O'hare. LOng Beach beats LAX by a light year. florida? PBA

Flew them ORD-LHR once, and the flight attendant yelled at a British couple who slept through breakfast service and requested the rock-solid pancakes offered everyone else. They make you pay for food on their ORD-Honolulu route (an 8-9 hour flight). They've really gone downhill.

I'm fairly easy to please - as long as the plane doesn't nosedive I'm happy enough. Generally, there are no meals on flights within the U.S., so bring something to snack on.

They are pretty good. I fly with them all the time.
