Reality TV is actually some of the least expensive shows to produce, but generate high levels of income for the station or network.

Since some even tweak the outcome to increase viewership, it becomes a kind of cash cow for them.

It is. Its just a way of boosting profits by making programmes that are cheap to make and so don't need as many viewers.

I think that the new trend in plastic surgery shows is just a way of getting plastic surgeons more business and they probably sponsor the idea.

Another reason for making these shows instead of factual shows is to make people less likely to think for themselves and so then they may not notice how bad a job the politicians are making of everything.

I do. It's getting so tiresome. TV used to be great about ten years ago. There was loads of good dramas and comedy on, and some brilliant documentary series. But now, most of it's a load of crap, I agree.

I refuse to watch reality tv, find better things to watch than those rubbish slots.

I agree. It's like they've got nothing else to show, which is really tragic. I think there should be more interesting documentaries, but that probably doesn't sound as cool as Nikki's outbursts in the Diary Room: who IS she?

hell yeah it is! and then you loose good programs like arrested development and such because there are plenty of people who would disagree and say it's wonderful. blah, if i want reality i turn the TV off, not on.
