I can't get out to water my newly planted grass very often. Is it okay to put pete moss over the straw that the company put down to keep the soil moist?

The best way I have found to keep grass watered is to put a sprinkler out and leave it there. I turn it on as soon as I get up and turn it off before I go to work. As soon as I get home I turn it on again. You just need to keep it moist . I think the straw would be there also to keep birds from eating the seeds. Of course you could add the peat also.

absolutely, peat moss can soak up and hold vast amounts of water...... but at the same time, if allowed to dry out will take moisture from the soil as well... so you will still have to water when needed. But, yes it will help.
BTW. I really do not get this "straw" thing I've been reading about here ..... must be thought to work OK, and is way cheeper than peat moss, but I have always used straw to prevent weeds from growng and figure that would work the same way for grass seed - stop it from growing??? Am I missing something?

Kill weeds. it is not that easy the two. you may could spray greater desirable than as quickly as. regardless of if it is turning out to be season the place you reside... first use a huge spectrum weed killer like roundup. Wait each week.... each little thing could be ineffective.... yet some seeds might have sprouted. if it is so... spray lower back. then you somewhat wait yet another week (for the roundup to breakdown).... unfold grass seed with a seeder so it is uniform.... and then the two rake it gently and unfold a "starter fertilizer" in the different case cover it with a skinny layer of seeding soil. some people cover it with straw to maintain it from drying (i detect this vegetation greater weeds). you may then keep the seed from drying out. If it dries after it sprouts it is ineffective.... so water usually (and the seeding soil can help keep it moist). If all is going nicely you have got a thick backyard precise away. be useful to purchase grass seed at a interior sight greenhouse..... they are in a position to have seed blends acceptable on your area... as against trouble-free blue grass blends which you detect at homestead Depot. this could provide help to spend much less on water.

I wouldn't do that, water your grass before the sun comes up and after the sun goes down and you will have beautiful grass
