Yes I know they are expesive, I want aperture with low light loss and no aberrartion. Meade used to have a 150 mm Apo but I don't know if they are not making them any more.

Your best bet will be to watch the used scope adds on www.astromart.com. However, a 6" APO will not come cheap, even used.

Make sure you understand how big a 6" refractor is before you buy. It is too big for a single person to comfortably mount and move around alone.

If you compromise to something around 4", it will be much more afordable and probably more practical, particularly if you need any portability.

Any apochromatic refractor is going to be way more expensive than an acrhomatic refractor, like 4 or 5 times more expensive. For example, the Orion 120mm Apo is $2,400 while the regular acrhomat is only $600. And 6 inch (150mm) is pretty big for a refractor. I don't see one that big on Orion's web page, but if you can find one somewhere it will be an astronomical price (excuse the pun).

You want an AFFORDABLE 6inch Apo?

You'll find it in your (and my) dreams.

The closest thing is the 120mm Skywatcher or Orion ED scope, which is only about 4.7inches but is the largest "affordable" apo refractor on the market.

Even that scope doesn't seem to be as well color-corrected as it should be, at least not the Skywatcher version. Photographs I've seen with it show detectable chromatic aberration, although it's probably fine for visual.

A 6inch Apo that doesn't cost a fortune is going to be a long time coming, I believe.
