for a start its not perry mc carthy he was sacked at the end of season 4 because he published a book called the stig and me. which broke his contract. if you remember they drove him off a aircraft carrier perry mc carthy was the stig who wore the black race suit. the new stig is Damon hill hes the right height and has got the same driving style. IE the wide line in to the first corner of the top gear track. plus if u look closely at the laps hes got blackly brown hair with grey bits just like Damon and in season 5 a little grey goaty just like Damon i think that's answered your question. top gear the best program Eva. get well soon hamster.

I would guess Stig Blomqvist (might have spelt it wrong), an ex F1 driver from late 70s or early 80s he's about clarkson's age. Top programme, love it, especially poor little richard Hammond, bless him.

Not Richard Hammond anyway. The Stig would never have crashed.
I would go with Stig Blomqvist as well. Where would they have got the name from otherwise it makes sense to me.

the stig is a guy called colin blower, also races tvr's for harrogate horseless carriage's, own's and operates a high end garage in hinckley leicestershire, the reason i know ? i worked for him for 10 years upto last april.

i do buisness with a compnay who are on the same industrial estate as where top gear is made, and they said that damon hill is aorund there very regularly.
I think it is him too.
