You would have to say something that I might already think about myself. If people call me stupid it doesn't bother me because I'm confident enough about my intelligence to know that I'm not. If you told me I was boring, I might be offended because I'm more likely to believe that about myself.
Eg - I told a friend of mine after a painful break up that he seemed vulnerable, and he got really offended and wouldn't let it drop for days after. I think this is because deep down he knew he was feeling vulnerable but didn't like hearing it said out loud.

Absolutely nothing... I am never offended by people who do not know me nor I them.
However IF you were a friend / family.... complain ONCE about my husband or son and I am DONE with you ! It would also get a smack upside the head with a shovel! : )

Probably sh it in my mouth would be enough or let the tyres down on my cats bike or nick my lemon curd sandwich that my aunt mable had so lovingly made or stick my tooth brush up your starfish knowing full well im about to brush my teeth with it......................the list is endless
