They seem to elicit a lot of contempt and I don't understand why, after all they haven't done anything in the first place. How can you get so annoyed at people you don't know and haven't done anything.

Can i just clarify, I'm personally not jealous, its not in my nature, I care too little about most things. I do find other peoples responses interesting which is why I am asking this question.

Precisely, they haven't done anything, so why are they famous? even worse are the people who buy celeb magazines like heat. They really should get out more. Never mind saving the planet, just read about Z list trash like Kerry Katona (ugh!) and about people's marriages breaking up- it's sad. the readers want to be these people. Me, I don't care about them- I have a job, a husband & 2 kids. Oh, and I'm not a size 4, more a 14. that's normal!

Oh my gosh I thought I was the only one! I used to feel jealous of them because I wanted (and still do) want to be in the acting department and I felt like all they did was say something cutesy or they were related to someone else famour and thats how they got their stardome. However, now I don't care because those people havent really worked for what they got and also, when the get older, all they will know is how to have people to bow down to them and not be able to accomplish things by themselves. I, in fact, now that I think of it, will never want to be a minor celeb. I want to take things seriously in that. I hope I helped :)

It is probably the " Haven't done anything" part that makes people mad.
They get glamorised in the media for having done bug all.
"Why should they get all the free bees when they haven't earned them?" I can just hear my friend saying that.!!!!
Truthfully, I don't think I am jealous. Can't even be bothered to rake a up a bit of contempt really. Good luck to them says I.

Yes - it is crazy - after all, so many get their few minutes of fame - even if they are devoid of any talent or abilility.
I don't get jealous of these or any other people generally but I possibly do begrudge certain big named celebrities who are talentless & make a mint regardless.
There again, they only make a mint because the public support what they do or in the case of talentless pop stars, buy their records or go to their gigs. The list of talentless morons in this category is almost endless - and I do resent them as there are really talented people who don't seem to get any recognition.

I wouldn't say I was jealous, as fame is almost in an industry of it's own; minor celebrities being the lesser of appeal to the public, and Major superstar's being the more successful. It's like solictor in comparison to a successful lawyer.

I'm not jealous of any celebs -- but I do think it's crazy when minor celebrities really think they're something. My mom used to manage a fine dining restaraunt and they had an actor come in. A couple of his friends made a big fuss out of it and wanted to ensure no one bothered him. No one at the restaurant even knew which one was the actor.

hehehe......not a chance, I have a real life with real friends. Not jealous....annoying no, not that either....I kinda feel a little sorry for them to be honest, they really sell themselves short sometimes to get that little bit of fame. If they are happy with their moment in the spotlight good for them. It is usually short term and they will have to come back down to Earth with a bang at some stage, which is probably harder to accept than the short burst of fame.

No I'm not, I'm not really jealous of anybody. If I am, then in a good way. But not of celebrities, but of people who achieved a lot by working hard and determination. And to them I wish well.

people have always been jealous of those more popular than themselves. so therefore even a minor celebrity is elicits that response from people who wish they had the attention for themselves

I'm not jealous of them but I do get annoyed that any kind of press coverage can turn someone into a minor celeberity these days no matter what they've done. Rebecca Loos anyone.....???
