Just been restringing my acoustic guitar and one of the pegs that hold the strings in has split leaving half in the hole. Whats the best way of getting this out? I have tried pushing out from inside by putting my hand in the sound hole but its wedged tightly.

Any ideas?

Okey dokey. Is there any part of the peg protruding slightly from the bridge? If there is you may do it with some very fine pointed pliers. If not, remove all the strings from the guitar so you can get your hand inside and find something that you can tap lightly onto the broken peg with from underneath and it should come out from the top, don't go too heavy handed though. If this still doesn't work i'm afraid it's a case of drilling it out.

Whatever u do dont snap it cos then it really is stuck. If its wood then make sure u keep it out of humidity for that expands the wood and try using chalk to get it out.
Probably safer to take it to a music shop or instrument menders...they will replace the peg anyway!
Good luck.x

how big is the peg? I've never done this but could try screwing in a self tapping screw into the end of the peg and then pulling it out (with plyers).
