Personally i feel myself and maybe most viewers, wouldn't feel quite so begrudging about paying our TV tax, and yes i use the term tax because thats what it is.
If the programmes produced were more impartial and catered for a more wider spectrum of ideas and beliefs.
The quality and integrity of the bbc was at one time second to none, in regards to broadcasting, it was the benchmark against which all other world broadcasters were measured.
Those days have sadly long gone. The bbc is now stiffled in politically correct dogma, poor programming standards and a severe lack of quality with regards to writing and reporting.
Where once there was imagination now there is dull comformity.
Where once there were unquestioned standards now there is the constant chasing of high short term ratings.
Where once truth and journalistic integrity were paramount now we get half lies and lazy sensationalist journalism.
I'm affraid my family or tittybangbang are not stepteo n son, dads army or only fools n horses.
strictly come dancing or test the nation are not morcombe and wise, the two ronnies or monty python.
The modern incarnations of panarama or question time are dumbed down versions of once serious quality viewing.
So yes keeping it financed by a tax system based on owning a tv set. Is a national disgrace and should be ended immediately.
If as the great and good at the bbc are allways telling us that their product is so fantastic. I'm quite sure it would be good enough to survive without us being forced by law to finance it.

Get rid of the licence fee and privatise.
I hardly watch the BBC anymore yet have to pay the licence fee (which seems to increase above inflation year on year) - how can it be justified that anybody as to pay a mandatory fee for simething they might not use? The whole concept is flawed.
Privatisation will increase accountability and efficiency, saving costs and therefore minimising the loss of income to the BBC through the licence removal.
Everybody else (ITV, CH 4, Sky etc) all have to stand on the their own 2 feet in a competitive market - why should the BBC be given 'special' treatment?

if its we as in the public then first of all, the licence fee would be abolished, secondly certain programmes that are considered crap or aren't generating enough viewers would be axed or scrapped in place of better ones , get rid bbc3, 4 and the other satalite channels, as for radio and the internet they would be left intact as it is. if the bbc wants to gain revenue and profit it needs to have advertising, therefore its not just itv1, channel 4 and 5 and other channels that would be relying on commercials and attracting potential viewers even though most of us loathe adverts anyway.

Advertising on an outside of UK website. Expand BBC Worldwide's operations to make more money.
Outsource, outsource, outsource.
Bring in experts to look at the business side of things, and less beaureaucracy.

I agree why should we have to pay for the BBC? if I watch anything BBC related its the channels available on sky/cable which I have to pay extra for anyway! for the sake of BBC1 and 2 the TV Licence is a complete scam. £110 for crap soaps and football? no. I think not.

In my opinion.. If the BBC had any sence.. they should advertising.. because in advertising they will make far more money than relying on a compulsory licence fee which most people in UK don't want.

I think the main channels and the inet site are invaluable. Also most of the radio stations are great (Radio 4 being the only intelectual thing of the airwaves without constant ads.)
I think they spend to much cash on nishe markets like radio 7 and bbc4, but think of our country without the bbc..
you wouldnt be able to move for ads like the usa.. horrid!!
