The 90s had Hole, Babes in Toyland, Bikini Kill, L7, Elastica, Kenickie, Breeders, Bratmobile, Sleater-Kinney, Huggy Bear and lots more.

Is it me or are there less female musicians around now?

for two reasons i think
1) people like pete who are schmos and lable it a joke
2) people who labled them all lesbians... lillith faire was supposed to be this great thing for women in rock, and it kinda backfired. i hear nothing but "dyke" from a lot of guys i know about women in rock. my husband and i got into an arguement over annie lennox!

There does seem to be a real shortage these days. I'm bored sh¡tless with all these 'boy' rock bands, I often prefer a female voice anyway so it would be nice to hear some more.

There's the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but off the top of my head I can't really think of any others.
