Looked like you are getting a beating from the lasses. I had to chime in for ya!!!!

At least with the model you have, you already know what's wrong with it and it's idiosyncracies so you know how to handle it. You recognize every little odd noise or bump.

So it has a ding or two here and there, that's what makes it unique and like no other. There is a certain comfort level that has been established with this model, you know how it will react under certain circumstances.

It may cost a little to put it back into shape. A little bit of maintenance goes a long way. A new belt here, a little touch up there and it's as good as new.

Now, if you trade and get rid of this model for a flashy new one, what do you know about it? Is it comfortable, what's that strange noise you hear all of a sudden? Does it ride rough on the road of life? How does it handle when out and about? Are you always going to have to take it to the dealer for servicing?

There are so many unknowns with that new model, on top of all that, they depreciate as soon as you take them off the market whereas your older model in increasing in value every day. That's part of what makes them a classic.

I'd just say, keep the one you have. Dress it up a little bit. Give it some new apholstery, and maybe a fresh wax job. Try to keep it inside as much as possible so that the weather doesn't get to it and make it look any worse than it really is. Treat it nice and it will be good to you for a long, long time.

I've had mine for almost 20 years now but my father has kept his in tip-top shape now for 68 years this November. On top of that, he test drove it for 5 years before he ever bought it.

I wish more people would take care of their pride and joys like that.

Good luck to all.

Well, except the newer and racier ones are just made out of silica and won't last as long as the true classics. Also, the vintage models are easier to maintain...not so many electronics and gadgets.

No because a younger racier model would leave you when it realised that you were unable to provide good handling. I think you should keep your older, more familiar model, and grow old and rusty together. Regular servicing is required, if done thoroughly, the results will be very satisfying

Sure, there are plenty of afficionados out there who relish the classics and would really bring out her shine... show her off on a sunny spring day around town with the top down...

The newer racier models are hohum by comparison....

The point is...She's not a car. And if she is getting on a bit, as you put it, then you must be too.
So what makes you think a younger, racier model would even want you as their owner?!
Guess who's the inanimate object here?! Thats right! You! You have no soul!

You're a jerk of the worst kind. Why don't you stick with your wife and leave us "newer and racier" models for the "newer and racier" guys? If you're a REAL man, youl'l stick with your wife. You've got your "golden years" ahead of you.....enjoy them! Another thing, got news for ya buddy......most of us "newer and racier" models only go after the "old" models for one thing...MONEY.....we'll date you and eventually marry you if you ask.....all the time hoping you die soon so we can inherit all your money......then we go after what we really want....a loving, happy marriage to a wonderful man closer to our own age.

Have you seen the tv ad where the guy changes oil in his car but the engine jumps out of the bonnet and spits it back over him because it wasn't Pennzoil oil?! I think you need to seriously think about why you feel this way about your partner, are you going through a mid-life crisis, or perhaps you're feeling she might be having these same thoughts about you, either way, my advice to you would be to take some time out with her to assess your feelings of love (if they still exist) and ponder whether you could find someone that could trust you after dumping a woman that has given you her all.

Your skills are driving and reacting to the newer model may not be up to speed to get your full investment into it. You might want to get the bondo out and fix the body and run some cleaner through to clean the engine and see if that increases the performance of your existing ride.

Yeah sounds good, get a younger model and see if she looks after you like your old model, will she wanna cook, clean, wash yer dirty underwear, put up with all yer bad habits,or,want you for a sugar daddy for a year or two till age catches up with you.
You deserve to be left on your own,old and lonely.
Your wife on the other hand deserves a MAN that loves her unconditionaly and not a selfish prick like you, leave her,you will be doing her a favor

i agree with gerbilfan.
Be sure you can handle an younger wife before breacking up with the actual one. Im pretty sure your an "older model" too. Why dont you try first to give her some "good oil" and some polish , buy her some new clothes or give her money to go to a beauty saloon, try to spice up your life a little before deciding to get a new wife. Anyway is pretty "not human" to compare a wife with a car... thats my opinion
