the talent is in getting the rythm of the beat into your lyrics, and making a story line out of it, in a way that is catchy and or posibbly a good new dance song at the clubs. There is even a far more amount of talent involved in freestyle rapping, (when you come up with the lyrics as fast as you can think and say them, while the background music is playing, and actually making what your saying make sense) Being a novice freestyle rapper, (for fun) you will find that being able to express yourself at the speed of thought is a very hard thing to do, let alone continue for a period of say 3-4 minutes straight.
Now, the better question, would be where is the talent in alternative rock music, in which they just scream out 2 or 3 sentences for the whole song?
If you think there is no talent in rap music, how about you try putting together an original sounding song, (using a computer, because it's cost effective, and you are able to que at the specific point you want to, etc....) then come up with a song that is original, and catchy enough to make it in the ever growing industry of rap.
I'll bet you can't even get down a quick 4 bars. without having to resort to a pad and pen. to try to make it sound good, or have some kind of rhyme integrated into it.
yes, the youth is our future, and what the youth is telling us is that they like Drugs, sex, gangs, pimpin, etc...because it is selling. and guess what. some of those same kids, thier parents are buying them those cd's, so who is to blame, the kids, or the parents? In either case, the kids are going to do what they want to do, your only hope is to either be cool with them, so they don't shut you out, or discourage them, and they label you as being "not cool" (yes i know the word "cool" is outdated,) and then still keep you out of the loop from what they are doing.
Besides if you were to try to pay attention to thier music, you might be able to learn more about who they are becoming to be, and be there for them to try to guide them. Rather than denouncing thier music and paying no attention to it.

don't be so close-minded, how time-honored are you with rap? Do you in user-friendly terms base those evaluations on mainstream rap and crap you have heard on television or the radio? attempt getting into some undergorund hip hop and rap, the variety of song is super - that's in user-friendly terms been bastardized with the aid of pop way of existence. some lesser-time-honored, proficient artists to study out: Jean Grae threat Doom MF Doom gruesome Duckling Madvillian deadly Bazooka and many of the respectable mainstream ones: Beastie Boys Outkast Black Eyed Peas

Not all kinds of music are good. Even some classical music is awful. So, not all rap music is good.
But there are some very entertaining rap musicians and their talent is obvious. Do a bit more research and you might find there is entertainment in some rap music.

There is no talent in rap music. Personally, I don't believe (not wanting to insult anyone) rap is not a kind of music. It is just the same beat every time, and one guy talking fast about the bitches of his life

The only thing I've been able to figure is it takes a bit of talent to make up nonsense new words and have them catch on as if they actually meant something...Shizzy fahizzy bling bling and all that.

Yo Yo Yo the "c" is silent when pronouncing Rap. Can't stand it all that cop killer nonsense. Yeh great. Equally crap is all that Marylin Mansfield crud. You can't beat a bit of Puccini in my book.

Talent has one "L". When you berate a different form of cultural expression as limited, at least learn to use spell check. Otherwise you look like an ignoramus.
